Sewer Service & Billing

The Town of Chesapeake (WV) collaborates with the Kanawha Public Service District (Kanawha PSD) for sewer service connections and billing. Here's everything you need to know:


1. Service Connections & Account Setup

To start or reconnect sewer service, please get in touch with Kanawha PSD:

Note: You’ll need your WV American Water account number (call 1‑800‑685‑8660) before applying with Kanawha PSD.


2. Billing Based on Water Consumption

  • Sewer billing is calculated from water usage data provided by WV American Water, using PSD’s rates approved by the Public Service Commission.
  • Questions about your bill or payments? Call Kanawha PSD at 304‑595‑2203, Mon–Fri 8 AM–3 PM.
  • Online payments are accepted through PSD’s secure billing portal.

3. Security Deposits & Terminations

  • A refundable security deposit is required to start service. Deposits are refunded after 12 months of timely payments or upon service termination.
  • If water service is terminated due to non-payment of sewer bills, contact PSD at 304‑595‑2203 to restore service.

4. Chesapeake Sewer Infrastructure

The Town of Chesapeake independently maintains its own sewer system, including pipes, manholes, and pump stations within town limits.
