Making a False Report to a Government Official

Please be aware that making a false report to a government official is a serious offense and can have legal consequences. Under federal law (18 U.S. Code § 1001), it is a crime to knowingly and willfully make false statements to any department or agency of the United States. Similarly, West Virginia state law (West Virginia Code §61-5-17) prohibits giving false information to law enforcement officers with the intent to mislead. False reporting can divert valuable resources away from genuine concerns and may lead to unnecessary investigations or actions. It is important to provide accurate and truthful information when reporting any issue. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.
